In April 2022, I faced a loss that left me with more questions than answers. Losing my precious son, Azan, was an unimaginable pain. I found myself navigating a labyrinth of unknowns - from finding a resting place for my son to understanding the customs and costs of this process. There was a void, a desire to help others on this difficult path, but I didn’t know how.
Our mission is simple, yet profound: To provide support and resources to those who have experienced loss and are grieving. This includes counseling, support groups, educational materials, and advocacy efforts to shed light on the impact of grief on individuals and communities.
Life had another painful twist in store for me. Just six months later, I was confronted with the loss of my father, and once again, the emotional and logistical burdens overwhelmed me.
But from this darkness, a light emerged. It was in a conversation with my sister that the seed of an idea began to sprout. In just 24 hours, we had a plan and a name. That’s when it became clear - we wanted to be there for our Muslim community, who often carries their grief in silence.
Ultimately, we aim to offer hope, healing, and a way forward for anyone who has known the pain of loss. We want to be the guiding light in your journey towards solace and recovery. Join us in spreading hope, sharing your stories, and finding strength in each other. Together, we can heal. Together, we can find light in the darkest of times.

Losing someone you love changes you forever. When I lost my dad on November 1, 2022, my world felt shattered. Grief is isolating, overwhelming, and unpredictable, and in those early days, I struggled to find a way forward. I know firsthand how loss can make you feel stuck in a place of pain, searching for hope but unsure where to find it.
That’s why I am so passionate about the mission of our organization—empowering others to heal and find hope after loss. No one should have to navigate grief alone. Healing doesn’t mean forgetting; it means learning to carry the love forward while finding ways to live again. Through support, community, and resources, we help others take steps toward healing at their own pace, knowing they are not alone in their journey.
Grief is a lifelong journey, but hope is always within reach. By sharing my story and dedicating myself to this work, I want to remind others that even in the darkest moments, healing is possible. Together, we can create a space where loss is acknowledged, love is honored, and hope is restored.

I joined Light of Grief because I believe that healing grows from our shared strength and compassion. Even though I haven't experienced profound grief personally, I understand that every heartache carries the potential for hope and transformation. By supporting this cause, I aim to help create a community where each individual can find solace, understanding, and the courage to embrace their journey toward renewal. Being part of Light of Grief means more than just supporting a nonprofit—it’s about lighting the path for others in moments of darkness. I am inspired by the stories of resilience and the collective spirit that emerges when we come together to heal. Even without a personal grief story, my commitment lies in nurturing a space of empathy and empowerment, where every step forward is celebrated as a testament to our shared humanity.
